If RSI, MACD, and Stochastic are the momentum starter kit, this is the full toolbox: every advanced oscillator in the Setup.Cash engine, available in the strategy builder and Indicators Lab.
Sharpened Classics
- Fisher Transform: reshapes price into a near-Gaussian distribution so turning points show up as sharp, unambiguous spikes.
- RSX (Relative Strength Xtra): Jurik's noise-free RSI — same scale, dramatically smoother.
- Connors RSI: blends a short RSI, streak length, and rank of the day's change — built for short-term mean reversion.
- QQE (Quantitative Qualitative Estimation): smoothed RSI plus an ATR-style trailing band; fires on band crosses rather than fixed levels.
- Stochastic Momentum Index (SMI): stochastic measured from the midpoint of the range — cleaner centering than %K.
- Fast Stochastic (STOCHF): the raw, unsmoothed stochastic for quick triggers.
- KDJ: the stochastic's East-Asian cousin adding a J-line that overshoots for early warnings.
Price Oscillators
- Awesome Oscillator (AO): Bill Williams' 5/34 midpoint-price histogram; the twin-peaks and zero-cross patterns are classic entries.
- Percentage Price Oscillator (PPO): MACD normalized to percent — thresholds transfer across symbols.
- Absolute Price Oscillator (APO): the raw fast-minus-slow EMA difference.
- Detrended Price Oscillator (DPO): removes trend to isolate the cycle; useful for measuring cycle length.
- Pretty Good Oscillator (PGO): distance from an SMA in ATR units — "how stretched are we, in volatility terms?"
- Chande Forecast Oscillator (CFO): percent difference between price and its linear-regression forecast.
- Center of Gravity (CG): Ehlers' zero-lag cycle oscillator.
- Schaff Trend Cycle (STC): MACD run through a double stochastic — an early-turning trend/momentum hybrid.
- True Momentum Oscillator (TMO): momentum measured from open-to-close positioning, double-smoothed.
Strength & Sentiment Gauges
- Relative Vigor Index (RVGI): compares close-vs-open to the bar's range — conviction of each session.
- Balance of Power (BOP): (close − open) / (high − low), the simplest per-bar buyer/seller score.
- Elder Ray Index (ERI): bull power and bear power around an EMA — who's winning at the margins.
- Bias: percent deviation of price from its moving average.
- BRAR (AR/BR): sentiment pair comparing ranges around the open and the prior close.
- Psychological Line (PSL): simply the percentage of up closes in the window — crowd optimism as a number.
- Qstick: average of close-minus-open; persistent candle color quantified.
- Inertia: RVI-based momentum with linear-regression smoothing — trend "mass in motion".
- Exhaustion Count (EXHC): counts consecutive closes beyond prior closes, TD-Setup style, to flag stretched runs.
- Even Better Sinewave (EBSW): Ehlers' cycle-phase wave for timing swings inside a range.
Rate-of-Change Utilities
- Log Return / Percent Return: bar returns in log or percent form — the raw material for statistical rules.
- Decay: exponentially fading impulse line, useful for cooling-off logic after signals.
- Increasing / Decreasing: boolean streak detectors — "has X risen N bars in a row?" as a condition primitive.
Using Them
Every oscillator here accepts a length input and plugs into conditions like any built-in. Start from a simple base (our ROC guide covers the foundations), add one refinement at a time, and backtest each addition — sophistication only earns its keep when the metrics say so.
